How do I get started?+
Open Almanox and let it use your location, or add a place by name from the location picker. Everything - times, the verdict, the Milky Way window - is then computed for exactly where you stand. Head to Tonight for the verdict and Today for the sun and moon almanac.
Almanox is not finding my location+
Make sure location permission is granted to Almanox in your phone settings. You can always add a location manually by name instead - Almanox never requires GPS, and a saved place works exactly the same.
Do I need an account or internet?+
No account, ever. The core almanac - sun, moon, twilight, Milky Way, the verdict, the star chart - is computed on your device and works fully offline. Live weather, the aurora forecast, ISS passes and the maps use a connection.
Is it a subscription?+
No. Almanox Pro is a one-time purchase of $12.99. No subscription, no ads, no recurring charge. Buy it once, keep it.
What does Pro unlock?+
Pro unlocks the Milky Way core forecast, deep-sky targets, the sun and moon shot planner, the photo calculators, the drive-out map planner and dark-sky site finder, the detailed hourly forecast, the AR sky finder, home-screen widgets, golden-hour and custom alerts, and unlimited saved locations. Free is generous - the Tonight verdict, the full sun and moon almanac, the star chart, Planets, the aurora forecast, ISS passes, Best Nights, Good-night alerts, every theme, and three saved locations. How do I restore my purchase on a new phone?+
Sign in to the same App Store or Google Play account and use Restore Purchases in Settings. Your Pro unlock is tied to your store account, so there is nothing to transfer.
Can I move my notes and places to a new device?+
Yes. Backup & restore in Settings exports your places, notes and preferences to a single file you can move to another device and import.
Why is the verdict Fair when the sky looks clear?+
Usually the moon. A clear sky under a bright moon still washes out the deep sky. Open the ephemeris and check the moon rows - a moonset partway through the night often turns a Fair evening into a Good late night. See the Tonight Verdict chapter.
Which platforms is Almanox on?+
iPhone, iPad and Android. The layout adapts to phones and tablets, portrait and landscape.
