Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about UPSight.

What do I need to use UPSight?
A UPS device with a network management card (NMC) or SNMP capability, connected to your local network. Most rack-mount and many tower UPS units from CyberPower, APC, Eaton, and Tripp Lite support SNMP either built-in or via an optional network card. You'll also need the SNMP community string (usually "public" by default for read access).
Does my UPS need to be connected to the internet?
No. UPSight communicates over your local network only. Your UPS just needs to be on the same network (or reachable via VPN/Tailscale) as your phone. No internet access required for the UPS itself.
Can I monitor multiple UPS devices?
Yes! UPSight supports unlimited UPS devices. The dashboard shows all your units with at-a-glance status cards. Tap any device for full details across six tabs: Overview, Power, Battery, Outlets, Events, and Info.
Can I control UPS outlets from the app?
Yes, for UPS models that support outlet control via SNMP (e.g., CyberPower PR series with controllable outlets). You can toggle individual outlets on/off and rename them for easy identification. Read-only outlets will show status but won't have toggle controls.
How much does UPSight cost?
UPSight is a one-time purchase of $4.99. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no ads. Buy it once, use it forever. All future updates included.
What SNMP versions are supported?
UPSight supports SNMP v1, v2c, and v3. You can select the version per device during setup. Most consumer and prosumer UPS devices use v2c with a community string of "public". v3 is available for enterprise environments requiring authentication and encryption.
Can I use UPSight remotely (outside my home network)?
Yes, if your UPS is reachable via VPN, Tailscale, WireGuard, or similar. UPSight connects to whatever IP address you configure. We recommend VPN access rather than exposing SNMP ports directly to the internet.
My UPS brand isn't listed. Will it work?
Probably! If your UPS supports SNMP and implements the standard RFC 1628 UPS-MIB, UPSight's generic driver will work. Most network-capable UPS devices comply with this standard. If you encounter issues, contact us and we can investigate adding a dedicated driver for your brand.
